I'm getting this post in before my weekend off comes to an end. Quite a small blogspiration this week, but when I was considering what I could possibly post, I realised I was looking right at it.
As corny as it might sound, whenever I'm driving to or from work, whenever I've been cooped up all day and just don't feel like I'm coping, I look at the sky. It just relaxes me instantly. There's something intimidating and humbling about it that just puts things into perspective. I hardly ever take time to just stop and look so when I do, it's a nice feeling.
What about you? Do you have something that helps you take a step back and just be humbled by its presence?
OMG, is that really a view of yours? It's beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI too love looking at the sky. I try to do it at least every other day. As the sun is setting especially. I love the different colors a sky can be, different every day.
Aww, yeah the sky can make magic. Most of the time we really forget it's there.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I love looking at the clouds. I love how the sunrise and sunset stains them sorbet-colours. I love seeing them piled up, making mountains and valleys in the sky. And most of all, I love it when they're crackling with lightning. I find it mesmerising.
ReplyDeleteAnd the stars - but I like looking at those awesome pictures taken by super-powerful NASA telescopes/satellites where you have the bright colours and explosion of light rather than walking outside and looking up at the itty-bitty white dots. That makes me feel small and awed and very, very humbled.
Oh, Heather, I LOVE this. Me too... especially in winter, when it's cool, the sun sets are even more gorgeous and vibrant and clear. Plus, I happen to be leaving work at about the EXACT same time as the sun is setting... Oh, I can't explain how much I love this post. I've been really stressed at work, and now I'm THINKING about how I can chill. THANK YOU! ♥
ReplyDeleteFor me, it's the sea. Or just any water really. I feel so at peace when I see the waves crashing against the tide or smell the salt in the air, feel the crunch of sand beneath my feet. I immediately feel at peace, and at home. It's the same for mountains I think, just, y'know breathtaking lanscapes that make me stop and think.
ReplyDeleteAnd I love this Blogspiration, it made me think of the sea and it made me happy. Reminded me that I need to head to the beach soon, haha. But really, this was an inspiring post, thank you <3
For me, it's the sky as well.
ReplyDeleteIt's really funny, too, because I have this weird irrational fear of wide open spaces, but occasionally I stand outside my house alone and stare at it and just think "wow." In the summer, I look at it during the daytime; otherwise, it's generally during the night, and I stare at the stars.
Also, at any time, I catch myself looking through my window at the sun when it's setting. I feel like it can turn all these beautiful colours that you wouldn't expect, and it's always so lovely... just like in your picture, actually.
- May :)
Wow it's good to know I'm not the only one that is struck dumb by the things around me!
ReplyDeleteThat picture was of a sunset in Fiji actually. Whenever I travel; I try to get one sunset picture from wherever I am. The picture I took in Perth was just amazing but I seem to have lost those pictures :(
And the night sky is a good one too, especially on a really clear night. There's just so much to see!
WAIT??!!! DID YOU TAKE THIS PICTURE?? Cause if you did, I am inviting myself over to visit you!!
ReplyDeleteLOOOOOVVVEEEE!! I find myself looking at the night sky after a long day, too! I find it to be incredibly peaceful. And sunsets?? I. DIE.
Wow, I need a poster like this so that I can look at it all winter.
ReplyDeleteThanks for commenting and following, following you back now:)
Thanks Sophie! And Kristin, I have plenty of spare rooms! Unfortunately I've moved away from the lake where I used to live so it takes me a good five minutes to get anywhere with water.
ReplyDeleteNoooooooo!!! MOVE BACK!! MOVE BACK!! :b
DeleteThis is great. Yesterday the sky was clear blue with fat clouds that were constantly changing. I looked up and wondered why I don't watch the sky more.. it is so beautiful, ever-changing and inspiring :) I love this post!
ReplyDeleteAndrea
I look at the mountains behind the town I live in. They never cease to inspire.
ReplyDeleteMountains are a good one! There's a few near where I live but they're not very inspiring unless you go for a bit of a drive. I'd love to live in the shadow of some huge jaggered peaks that loom over the city.
