Blogspiration (15): We're all in this together

Blogspiration is a Brand Spankin' New weekly meme hosted by both GrowingUp YA and Saz101. The meme was created to help spark inspiration among bloggers, readers and writers alike. An inspirational quote/picture/video is posted weekly, on the day of the author's choosing, so that it may inspire creativity, conversation and just a little SOMETHING.

Check out these gal's awesomeness:

Okay you guys, I've been a little slack at the blogspirations this month, which is crazy because I've been super motivated with my writing. I don't know if this motivation is because I'm procrastinating the million other things on my to-do list, but I DO know it has to do with a certain someone's blog hop.

Now, it's not the blog hop per say that's sent me into this typing machine, I think it has to do with the people I'm meeting. Some of them are at the stage I'm at in their writing journeys, some a little behind, some are a little ahead. We're all at different levels, have different styles, but each and every one of them is MEGA AWESOME!

The fact that these guys take time out from their busy writing (and life) schedule to help each other out is what's inspiring. They're all so patient, and so knowledgable, and so willing to help out. It gives me faith that the business I so badly want in on is worth it. And the fact that they're all trying SO DAMN HARD, makes me want to try hard too.

We're not competitors, we're a support system. And with each new person who blogs about scoring their dream agent, makes me believe that will be me one day.

So yes, my blog title this week is taken from a super-corny, 'new Disney' movie. But I truly believe it, and because of that, I'm more motivated than ever.

And Sarah and Kristin, thanks for bringing us all together here too.

  1. I immensely appreciate all the supportive writers I've found on the internet. I've been able to connect in what seems to me to be a meaningful way with three different writing groups. Each are unique, but always helpful and friendly. It is a wonderful thing to be rowing together instead of competing against each other (if that makes any sense!)

    1. It definitely does. It's so hard when you feel like you're doing it all alone but when you meet people as passionate about it as you are, suddenly everything seems that much easier.

  2. Oh I love High School Musical! I sent you an email about a blog award I've passed along to you - did you get it? I can't find you on Twitter. (Too many with your name, including one of my neighbors). Go see my blog for details about the award, and thanks for your comment on my Flash Fiction :-)

    1. I did have a secret love of HSM for a while too. And I did see that award, I'm reposting it this week. Thanks so much, lovely!

  3. The best thing about the internet is meeting writers - both the professional and aspirational kind. It's a great support system out there no matter if we have our books published or we're just still 'getting there'. Great post!

    1. I know! And the really great thing is those people that have made it that bit further than you, are always happy to share their stories.

  4. I think, when we all know the journey that we're going through it's just so easy to support each other, you know? You appreciate everything they're doing and just want to help in the best way you can.
Being a writer myself, I was with a writing group for NaNoWriMo last year and even when I had fewer words and wasn't doing well myself, I was so happy to encourage the others to not give up but to keep going, to keep writing. We know that writing makes us happy and sometimes making sure everyone else is happy just helps us too.
    But is inspiring.
It's a community; and a great one at that.

    Great blogspiration Heather! :D

    1. Thanks Faye. The realisation this week has seriously uplifted me to do more. Some days, I even think this whole writing thing might actually be a possibility. I think what has surprised me the most is, instead of feeling bitter and jealous when someone announces an agent, I'm legitimately excited for them. I know how much they must have been through and I'm like, 'hell yeah!' *fistpump*

  5. HEATHER! I love this SO much. And this?

    "We're not competitors, we're a support system."

AMAZING. And it's an attitude that will take you SO far in life. Rather than trying to beat other people, supporting, and making the race together is... just perfect. I love ♥

    1. Aww... thanks Sarah! Shucks.

I only wish people could have this outlook for 'normal' jobs. The business I work in is so cutthroat that you don't dare tell anyone anything because gossip spreads - literally - faster than wildfire. People you don't even know have a running list of everything you've done.

  6. We are all in this together, when you think about it. The publishing world is a never-ending circle of writers and readers who love and devour the written word, and no matter what, we're all here for each other in the end. We're helping each other sludge through the rough times and celebrating each other's triumphs through the good ones.

I know this is short, but you did a wonderful job expressing this and I don't want to ruin it. And I shall leave off on the note that this was totally inspiring. <3

    1. I'm so glad it was inspiring! And you pretty much summed up what I was trying to say in one paragraph. Bravo to you.

It's so true though, both writers and readers would be no where without the other and it really makes me sad when I see arguments and 'hate' discussions between the two. We don't all have to be friends, but we don't have to bully and ridicule either.

  7. Awwww, Heather, I LOVE this! <3 I just think in general that people in this 'world' are so supportive of one another's dreams and hopes. We all just GET each other, you know? And that makes for such a caring, helpful world that I just never want to leave.

I'm so sick of looking at all the pointless drama (EVERYWHERE) and thinking, "what am I even doing here?" The little reminders like this about the great things are definitely appreciated! So thank you SO much, Heather! <3

And good luck with landing your very own dream agent! :)
